Hello, my name is Yolanda and I'm a third grade bilingual teacher at a Title I school in Texas. This is my second year as a teacher and I'm loving my profession.
I created this blog for two purposes. Reason one is to fulfill a requirement for my Master's Degree in Education: Technology Integration in the Classroom from Walden University. The second reason is to get technology integration ideas from educators and/or technology experts that I could possibly use in my third grade classroom.
This year I wrote and was awarded the Digital Publishers grant. I wrote this grant because I wanted to get a copier machine with scanning features to teach my students how to scan graphics to use in their projects. I also purchase other technology items such as digital cameras, flash drives, digital recorders and microphones. One of my goals this school year is to do as much technology integration and to teach my students 21st century technology skills that they can use in real-life.
In my classroom my third grade students are learning how to create folders to save files in programs like Word and Publisher; copy and paste pictures in their files; use Publisher to create graphic representations; create Power Points; and later they will learn how to create an animated movie, including narration, in KidPix.
I'm so proud of my students' projects and excited about the new ones they will be creating in the future. Use of technology in my classroom allows me to reach all my students, keep them engaged, and make learning more enjoyable and meaningful to them.
I would love to hear how you are integrating technology in your classroom. Please share your ideas.
