Integrating Technology Across the Content Areas course – Final Reflection

Here I am at the end of one more course and two more to go. Although one is glad to complete a course, this particular one was of high interest to me because I learned more about project-based and problem-based learning, which are two of the ideal types of learning for any classroom. But unfortunately high stakes on TAKS testing are taking away the meaningful types of learning our students require to be successful after the TAKS. Even though with all the mandates, some teachers who believed that using technology to enrich our teaching and learning find time to accommodate the integration of technology in to our curriculums.

Another helpful thing I learned in this course is the GAME plan. Setting a GAME plan was beneficial to me because it is important as an educator to set goals to continue improving my teaching practices in order to grow as an educator. I learned that sometimes things don’t work the way we want them to, therefore, one should set goals that are achievable but always leave room for revision. It is better to start something and try to finish it in one way or another, than not finish it at all.

Because I understand that teaching and learning using technology provides meaningful learning opportunities for my students, I need to start developing lessons that include more technology integration across the curriculum. I need to devote time to find what is right for my classroom so I can prepare lessons that can benefit all the learners in my classroom. I also need to expose my students to as many technologies as possible not only to enhance their learning but also to cover the technology TEKS they are required to learn to be effective citizens in a digital and global society.

It was a pleasure working with Dr. LeBeau and all my classmates. Good luck to you all!
